4 Ways To Take Great Care Of Your Refrigerator
If you just purchased a new refrigerator or if you have an older refrigerator that you are trying to get more mileage out of, you need to know how to take proper care of your refrigerator. You need to wipe down the inside of your refrigerator on a regular basis, melt away the ice inside of your freezer, keep the fan and motor clean, and make sure that your refrigerator has room to breathe.
Wipe Down The Inside of Your Refrigerator
At least once a week, take a wet rag and wipe down the inside of your refrigerator. Lift up the items on each shelf and wipe underneath them. Pick up and move the items out of the containers on your refrigerator door. Wipe down your vegetable and fruit drawers. Keeping your refrigerator clean will allow you to keep the shelves and drawers inside of your fridge in good shape, which is key to taking care of your refrigerator.
Melt Away The Ice Inside of Your Freezer
If you have a built up of ice inside of your freezer, you are going to want to melt away the ice. This will allow your refrigerator to function more effectively. You can unplug your refrigerator in order to defrost the freezer. Or you can use a hair dryer to defrost the ice if the ice built-up is small and concentrated.
Keep The Fan & Motor Clean
The fan and motor for your refrigerator are located on the back side of your refrigerator. Once or twice a year, you should pull out your refrigerator and clean the area where the fan and motors are located. You can use a vacuum cleaner to remove all the built-up dust that may have accumulated on the back of your fridge. When you pull out your refrigerator, make sure that you also clean the ground as well. Dust can build up and interfere with your fridge from the ground up.
Give Your Refrigerator Room To Breathe
Finally, make sure to give your refrigerator room to breathe. You should not push it right up against the wall. Your refrigerator needs air to circulate around it. This will help the fans and motor work properly on your fridge. When your fridge is too close to the wall, air cannot circulate around it and your fans and motor may suffer as a result.
If you want to take good care of your fridge, make sure to keep the inside clean, melt away any ice that builds up in your freezer, clean the fan and motor on the back of your fridge and make sure that you give your fridge room to breathe as well.
